Your journey begins in Tangier, a coastal city with a unique blend of African, European, and Arab influences. Depart in the morning and drive through the Rif Mountains, enjoying beautiful landscapes on your way to Chefchaouen, famously known as the “Blue Pearl” of Morocco. Once you arrive, you’ll be captivated by the serene atmosphere and blue-painted streets of the medina. Visit the Kasbah Museum, relax in Plaza Uta el-Hammam, and take a short hike up to the Spanish Mosque for panoramic views at sunset. Overnight in a cozy riad in the heart of the medina.
After breakfast, say goodbye to Chefchaouen and head south toward Fes. If you have time and interest, you can make an optional stop at the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage site featuring beautiful mosaics and historical ruins. Another optional stop is the imperial city of Meknes, where you can briefly visit Bab Mansour Gate and the bustling El Hedim Square. Arrive in Fes by evening, check into your riad, and enjoy a relaxing evening in the medina or a local restaurant.
Spend the day immersed in the rich cultural and spiritual history of Fes, one of the oldest and most well-preserved medieval cities in the world. On a guided walking tour, explore the narrow alleys of Fes el-Bali, home to the University of Al Quaraouiyine—the world’s oldest existing university. Visit the iconic Chouara Tannery, Bou Inania Madrasa, and the colorful artisan quarters where traditional pottery, leather goods, and metalwork are crafted. After a local lunch, enjoy some free time for shopping, a visit to a hammam, or simply getting lost in the magic of the medina. Overnight again in your riad.
After breakfast, begin your journey back to Tangier, enjoying the changing landscapes on the 4.5–5-hour drive. You can choose to stop for photos or refreshments along the way to break up the drive. Once back in Tangier, depending on your schedule, you might have time to explore the Kasbah, American Legation Museum, or the Corniche before your tour ends. This 4-day experience offers a perfect introduction to northern Morocco’s beauty, culture, and history in a short but enriching itinerary.
